Q: Why do rants mostly form on the job?
A: Because you are there half of the day, and a sometimes walk into a big
pile of $h1t
Okay, here's the story:
I got a little chat with my supervisor yesterday. He
said other people had noticed I was not motivated enough.
I didn't know what he was talking about, nobody ever told me anything that
could, even remotely, point
out that I was unmotivated in there eyes.
As the conversation went on there was a threat, at
least it sounded like one. If my attitude did not change
they would send a letter to my future job stating I was fired for lack of
motivation. Damn, they just threatened
to destroy my entire future because some people where thinking I was unmotivated.
I told the guy if
someone thought that they had to tell me that, not just wait until a private
meeting where they can
rant it out to the highest boss. A man could classify that as a back stabbing
action. I was totally unaware of
this situation, and thought that I was doing my job like I always do.
He did tell me the quality of my work was crystal clear.
So that is not the problem. Then it must be my
attitude and the knowledge they have of me leaving in about 12 working days.
I got in this sort of deal before, in an internship.
I didn't want to drive in a car without a spare tire. It was my
car, and I had 2 flats in 6 months! I never had a flat tire in my entire life,
and that time I got 2! Earlier
that week, just after I had that second flat tire I offered to get it fixed
on numerous times when there was
time to do it! They kept waving it off. Then I had to go fetch some computer
to fix when I got back. I refused.
I offered to drive in the other car, also given to an intern for the job,
but he kept saying "you will go, and in your
own car!". I kept refusing it. The guy said: "Then you can go, don't
bother to come back". I took my things and
got out of there. I have the right to refuse driving a car without proper
equipment. That happened in the last
week of my internship, that almost cost me my college degree (some technical
school, called MTS in the
Netherlands). I was 5 days sort. Luckily my teacher saw it my way, and since
I got B's and A- on all my
reports he let me do (computer related) chores at school for five days to
fix it!
Next Thursday there will be an evaluation. If, for
any reason I find a doubt in his voice I will quit on the spot.
I will not let my future be ruined because I did not have enough "motivation".
I still don't see the connection,
Lack of motivation causes you to slack on the job, and I never slack! I do
my chores like I am told, and that's it!
Sure, I surf the net sometimes, mainly to check my e-mail, but I only do that
when I finished my everyday
activities. If I look around everybody is surfing the net, so that isn't the
reason for others to think I am not
motivated.
I liked working there, but this whole ordeal makes
me feel like crap inside. To bad all the colleagues on my job
never say what they think, except for my supervisor. He always says what he
thinks.
Conclusion: I hate backstabbers!
